The Association of Glass and Costume Jewellery Manufacturers and its partners, which also include our Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou, are preparing the ninth year of the presentation-sales exhibition of glass and costume jewellery titled “Fragile Beauty”. This will be held from 6 to 9 August at the Eurocentre complex. This is where forty manufacturers of glass, costume jewellery and Christmas decorations will present their new collections. The varied accompanying programme is part of the event. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture, the traditional demonstrations of selected techniques for working with glass and creating costume jewellery, dominated by a mobile glassworks and creative workshops intended particularly for children, will once again be present. The Association’s fashion show titled “Made in Jablonec” also enjoys a lot of popularity every year and will be held on the theme of “Double Fantasy” this year.
We will also be opening the gates of our museum, and we will invite visitors not only to visit our permanent exhibitions, but also to view one of the exhibitions in progress, titled “Trends.Design.Production” and “Material: Glass – Architecture” within the terms of the international glass and costume jewellery triennial. The “Games (not just) with glass” creative workshops will simultaneously take place in the museum studio and will be intended for families with children. The museum has also prepared a true gem for the Delicate Beauty 2020 event in the form of an exhibition titled “Handmade Dreams”, which will end its world tour lasting several years, here. The curator’s selection by Petr Nový presented current tendencies in the Czech costume jewellery and author jewellery sector in a network of Czech centres located from New York to Tokyo.
